Sayari is located in the northern Serengeti in Tanzania and looks mainly across the Maasai Mara in Kenya.
The shape of these tents and in particular the roofs was inspired by the hills in the southern Maasai Mara that are a prominent feature of the camp’s tranquil views.
byDESIGN developed double skin canvas walls as a way to hide timber framed glass doors and windows when opened.
As a flagship property for the client on a traditional safari circuit, byDESIGN felt it was important to conceal the timber when opened so as not to detract visually from a traditional safari tent.
Oriental design elements were incorporated into the tent and in particular the movable paper and timber looking the separate the open plan bathroom from the bedroom.
