Jan is a third-generation Kenyan who started creating and designing at a young age.

He designed his first tent at age twelve – a dining tent for his parents’ mobile safari company.  From there, Jan has always tried to innovate and push the envelope whether designing houses, tents or eco-friendly coffins.

The first house he built was the first straw bale house in Kenya and he has experimented with many different materials since then.

Jan’s design focus centres around the Architectural design of Safari Lodges and Camps.

Jan also enjoys the challenges of designing and manufacturing tensile membranes as it is the ultimate combination of creativity and hands-on productivity. Having recently earned a Certificate of Archineering from IMS Bauhaus, Jan is determined to push the boundaries on tensile membrane structures in East Africa and beyond.

Jan’s reputation hinges on his inspired imagination and attention to detail.
